Set up your first run
Open DMZ Orders in the FOB and choose the job you want to work on. Then prepare your gear and pick your deployment type. For a first run, we suggest completing one objective and extracting with what you collected.
Use the table below to match that objective to a deployment option. Then we’ll cover how to track the materials you need and when to head for extraction.
Choose your deployment around the job
Story Missions focus on narrative objectives, Dynamic Operations on multi-step operations, and Free Roam on open exploration. Choose the option that gives this session a purpose.
| Your immediate goal | Starting option | Decide before deploying |
|---|---|---|
| Follow a defined narrative objective | Story Mission | Which task are we finishing? |
| Play an operation-led run | Dynamic Operation | When will we stop taking on more work? |
| Work on a specific collection or preparation goal | Free Roam | Which items matter, and where will we leave? |
Decide what belongs in your backpack
If you are collecting materials for a FOB upgrade, open its recipe in the 3D Printer and track what is missing. Check the cash and material requirements in the upgrade panel before deciding what to collect.
When your backpack fills up, check that list first. A part that finishes a recipe may be more useful than an item you have no current plan for. Choosing the upgrade before deploying gives you a reason to keep one item and leave another.
Make the exit decision before the last minute
During the run, check extraction points, radiation, and the timer on the Tac-Map. Account for spreading radiation and the remaining time when planning your route. Use the information in the current match.
Recheck your exit route after completing the objective or finding the materials you came for. Before starting another job, discuss the supplies your squad has left and whether the next objective is worth risking the progress in your backpack.
