Where to turn on Free Loadout
After choosing your deployment type, turn on Equip Free Loadout in the Ready Up screen. Equipment you successfully extract with is yours to keep.
If you want to use your own weapon or buy more gear, the check below will help you decide where to spend. Start with the missing function, then compare the full weapon cost and read what insurance covers.
Four questions to ask before buying
Answer these questions for the run you have planned. If you cannot name the problem an item solves, hold off on buying it.
| Question | Keep the purchase if… |
|---|---|
| Can I handle the planned encounters? | It fixes a specific handling or capability problem. |
| Can I carry what I came for? | It supports the planned collection rather than hypothetical loot. |
| Can I recover after trouble? | You understand what the item restores and have a reason to carry it. |
| Can I continue after losing this? | Replacement does not consume the reserve for your next run. |
Keep enough for another attempt
Work out what it would cost to replace this setup. Decide what you would use to try the same objective again after a loss. There is no fixed cash ceiling for every player; the alternative weapons and supplies you already own change the decision.
Price the complete weapon change
Read the total cost in Gunsmith before confirming a purchase. Do not judge the change by the price of the attachment alone.
For example, if the optic is difficult to use, evaluate the change that addresses that problem first. You do not need to fill every empty slot.
Read insurance by what it actually covers
Read the weapon-insurance description before using it. The stated protection covers equipped weapons held on death; do not treat it as coverage for everything in your backpack.
Review weapon coverage and operator recovery separately in Ready Up. Before using a token, check that the item you want to protect falls within the current description.
